I was supposed to be a modern day Jesse James or Billy the Kid! What happened? How did I get here? The Bible says, “Many are the plans in a mans heart, but it is the Lords purpose that prevails.” By God’s sovereign mercy and grace my plans didn’t pan out the way I was hoping they would. I spent the first 27 years of my life running away from the Lord and doing things my way. My life was marked by drug and alcohol abuse, debauchery of all kinds, jails, prisons, and multiple near-death experiences. From the outside looking in there was no hope for me.
In April of 2004 I finally waved the white flag and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ, I was 27. This came through a series of providential events that led my childhood baby-sitter to come and share the gospel with me in county jail. I repented of my sins and trusted in Christ’s finished work on the cross that day. I had no idea what I had gotten myself into that day, but God has been working in and on me ever since.
I am blown away by God’s faithfulness and where He has me in life today. I am blessed to be married to my beautiful wife Misty. We have 6 children and 2 grandchildren. I am so thankful to serve at Redeemer Church as an elder and it has been a blessing to see what God has done since Redeemer was planted in 2014. I am also blessed to serve as the Founder and Program Director of The Refuge. The Refuge is a residential Bible-Based/Gospel-Centered program for men who are looking to find freedom from the chains of drug/alcohol addiction.
